Patrick Esunge Ekema, Mayor of the Municipality of Buea no longer. His last hours in office go back to Friday, October 25th. According to his entourage, he was officially seen in the south-west region troubled by the Anglophone crisis, offering ambulances to the regional hospital of Buea.
“The mayor was in good health and did not show signs of illness at the event,” said a source close to the victim in Buea.
According to reports, early Sunday, October 27, 2019, Mayor Ekema had a quick shock and fell in a hotel in Douala where he was housed. According to the information received by Cameroonweb, it would be poisoned. He was rushed to medical care in a clinic in Douala but died shortly after a short hospitalization. His body was deposited at the morgue of the Douala hospital.
Relatives, friends and colleagues came to his home in shock. Cameroonians on the web also expressed their shock and their doubt.
History will remember that Mayor Patrick Ekema stood up to the secessionist fighters in Buea and pledged to do everything in his power to crush them.
He organized several marches calling for the return of peace in the troubled region of southwestern Cameroon.
