Natacha who lives and works in France as a health assistant is pleading the Yaounde Magistrate court to grant her divorce from Roland, the man she legally married in December 2016.
When the case came up for hearing last week, Natacha told the court that she and Roland were classmates in the University. As undergraduates in the same class, they fell in love and remained lovers until both of them graduated from the University.
Thereafter, Natacha said she left for Europe in search of greener pastures while Roland remained in Cameroon and they never heard from each other for a period of up to 15 years.
During that time, Natacha got married, had three children, but the relationship hit the rocks and Natacha started living on her own even though she kept her job in France.
It was during a holiday Natacha decided to spend in Yaounde that the two lovers stumbled on each other again. When they met. Roland was still unemployed but that did not stop the old ‘fire’ of love rekindling again between the duo.
Natacha told the court that she and Roland had a good time all through her stay in Yaounde and Cameroon during what she described as a memorable vacation until Natacha went back to France. Away in Europe, the love affair continued until Roland made up his mind and proposed to Natacha.
Despite the hurt of her first marriage, Natacha said she decided to give herself a second chance and accepted Roland’s marriage proposal.
She then came home again in 2016 and they signed for better or for worse until death do us part in December of that year. Natacha took off for Europe after their honeymoon in a Luxurious hotel in Yaounde.
Before she went. Natacha said she rented an apartment in one of the high class quarters in Yaounde where she put Roland with her junior brother to live together.
Natacha told the court that after sometime, Roland told her that he could no longer withstand his brother-in-law’s impudence and convinced Natacha to rent another apartment for her brother.
Natacha said she succeeded in convincing Roland to take in her first child, (a boy of 12 years), an issue from her abortive first marriage. Roland consented and started living with his step son.
Natacha said after sometime the burden of renting two houses became too heavy for her to bear so she decided to send her junior brother packing into their family home to live with their parents.
Shocking to Natacha, she said she started hearing news of how Roland is bringing women into the house he shared with Natacha’s 12-year-old son.
“Roland was not ashamed to be bringing women into the house I rented for him and my son. My son remained tongue tied because he was afraid of ruining her mother’s marriage,” Natacha told the court.
What broke the Camel’s back was Natacha’s coming home to spend another long holiday. She did not only find another woman in the house, but the young girl was already heavy with pregnancy the work of Roland. Meanwhile Natacha and Roland had no biological children ever since they got married.
Even worse was the story the pregnant girl told Natacha which made the angry woman sue for divorce. “The girl said Roland told her that his wife has deserted her matrimonial home and is not likely to come back,” Natacha narrated in court.
Natacha also told the court that another discovery that shocked her was that Roland had long gotten a good job but was still asking her for not only rent for the house but money for family upkeep.
She is therefore accusing Roland of infidelity, lies telling and is pleading the court to grant her divorce so that she could eject Roland from the home she has been paying rents for many years.
“My husband has never given me feeding money since we got married. Instead, I am the one who feeds him. clothes him and pays his rents for him. I cannot continue like this when he is expecting a baby from another woman and has a lucrative job.” Natacha pleaded in court.
Since Roland was not in court to give his own version of the story even though he was summoned, the case was adjourned to December 18.
